If you wish to travel with your dog or a cat during your stay in Shanghai, there are certain rules to respect.
- A certain number of documents are indispensable in order to bring your pets to China:
- Passport
- Health certificate of your pet dated no more than 5 days
- Vaccination book.
- Importation of animals to China in strictly controlled. You will be limited to one animal per adult or two per family. Your pet has to be vaccinated and tattooed (or has an electronic chip). You can only bring a male and a female if they are neutered. Do not forget to check if pets are allowed in your future residence.
- You pet must be vaccinated less than one year but more than one month prior to arrival in China. Do not hesitate to ask you veterinarian to know the list of necessary vaccinations that are obligatory in China. A quarantine of 30 days in obligatory in China upon arrival. As a resident you can apply for a ‘home quarantine‘ for your dog in your apartment. This will cost you approximately 100 €.
