If we tell you ‘Marseille in Shanghai‘? No, it’s not a new reality show, but an awaited concert in Shanghai. As often, the culture and entertainment in Shanghai are one!
From 12th to 19th July, a Philharmonic Orchestra of Marseille (Orchestra of the Marseille Opera) travelled the biggest Chinese cities to celebrate the Franco-Chinese friendship. Music lovers have enjoyed themselves, during the tour that started on July 12!
Created in 1965, after the breakup of the Regional orchestra of ORTF, The Marseille Orchestra is one of the most important in France. Thanks to a great support of the municipality, the orchestra has reached an impressive number of 88 musicians. Sometimes classic, sometimes romantic, the repertoire is also modified to pay tribute to the best composers of the 20th century. Whether you are an admirer of Massiaen, Tomasi, Lesur or Charpentier, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Marseille will bring a pleasure to your ears and to your soul!
The tour went through Beijing, then through Shanghai before going to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and lastly Ji’nan. The concert took place at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on July 12, under the direction of Lawrence Foster. You can see that the occidental culture is close to you even in Shanghai.
The same day of the concert you could enjoy the festival ‘Esprit du piano‘ (Spirit of the piano) in the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. This festival discovers many talented pianists such as Florian Noack, a skilled player of the French city of Bordeaux.
A concert like this, bringing warmth and inspiration, could not have been refused!
