For an expatriate, an application for a visa is a formality which is necessary in order to reside permanently in China. Despite its indispensable character and an increasing number of expatriations in China, getting a visa is a real obstacle course that requires a lot of work and research to know all the formalities. Application for visa in China: list of documents
Your passport
Your passport has to be valid at least 6 months and contain empty pages. You will also need to provide a copy of the page containing your picture.
Visa application form
The visa application form must be clearly filled and enclosed with a recent picture in color (passport type). For this, do not wear hats of scarves. Stick the picture on the form.
Attestation of legal regular residence
If during the moment of application for visa you reside in other country than your native country, you will also need to provide an attestation of legal regular residence or a valid visa (original and one photocopy)
Specific documents needed for permanent residence in China
Once you have all the documents cited above, there are still several other documents left! You will need an original letter of confirmation of permanent resident status from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security.
Warning: from the moment you arrive in China, you have 30 days to file you application of residence. In order to file it, conciliate with the office of administration of public security in charge of entries and departures in your district.
